What is EstroGel used for?

This medication is a female hormone (estrogen). It is absorbed through the skin and enters into the bloodstream. It is used by women to help reduce a certain symptom of menopause (hot flashes). Certain brands may also help to reduce vaginal symptoms of menopause (such as vaginal dryness/burning/itching).

Where is the best place to apply EstroGel?

Spread the gel as thinly as possible over the entire area on the inside and outside of your arm from your wrist to your shoulder. Do not apply EstroGel directly to your breasts or in and around your vagina. Do not massage or rub in EstroGel. Allow the gel to dry for up to 5 minutes before you get dressed.

How long does it take for EstroGel to start working?

It usually takes a few weeks before you will feel the initial benefits of HRT and up to three months to feel the full effects. It may also take your body time to get used to HRT. When treatment begins you may experience side effects such as breast tenderness, nausea and leg cramps.
