Is the Timberline Lodge still open?
Timberline Lodge and Mt. Hood Brewing Co. are currently open with 50% capacity due to current county COVID restrictions.
Do you need chains to Timberline Lodge?
Chains Required. Traction tires allowed in place of chains on vehicles under 10,000 GVW and not towing. Vehicles towing must use chains.
Does the snow on Mt Hood ever melt?
1. At the 5,400′ elevation on Mt. Hood, the snow is not melting any earlier than in previous decades.
Does Mount Hood always have snow?
Hood. Mt. Hood receives an abundance of snow, averaging between 400-500 inches a year. Although a lot of the snow Hood receives is of the wet and heavy variety (aka “Cascade Concrete”) this type of snow tends to stick around into the summer months.

How high up is Timberline Lodge?
Timberline Lodge is located at 6,000 feet. Silcox Hut is at 7,000 feet. The highest operation point is the top of Palmer at 8,540 feet.
Is Mt Hood a good place to ski?
Mt. Hood has activities year round, but if you’re looking for downhill or cross-country skiing, the best time to go is between mid-November and March when there’s more likely to be snow. However, some of the Mt. Hood ski resorts are at a high enough elevation that you can even find some snow in the summer!
