Protection can come from placing the cables in metal conduit, plastic ducting, or where directly buried, through steel wire armouring. Unprotected outdoor cables must, as a minimum, be weather resistant, which includes protection against the typical ambient temperature range, UV light, ozone and water.
Do outdoor cables need to be buried?
Where it is decided that cables will be buried in the ground, the cables should be routed such that they are not likely to be damaged by any foreseeable disturbance and should be buried at sufficient depth (normally taken as not less than 600 mm).
How do you protect coaxial cable outside?
